Why Windsor homeowners hire Primal Cabinet Painting

Windsor kitchens come in every shape — from century brick homes in Walkerville with original oak millwork, to mid-century bungalows in South Windsor, to modern builds in Forest Glade and East Windsor with white thermofoil doors that have started to yellow. The single common request we hear: I love the layout, I just hate the colour.

Replacing a kitchen runs $25,000 to $80,000 in Windsor right now. Refinishing the exact same cabinetry to a factory-painted finish runs $3,500 to $5,500 — usually under 10% of the replacement cost. The boxes are already where you want them. The drawer slides still slide. The crown moulding fits the ceiling. The only thing that needs to change is the finish.

That is what Primal Cabinet Painting does, and it is the only thing we do. We are not a general painter that takes cabinet jobs on the side. Every job is a cabinet refinish, every coat is Italian Renner 2K polyurethane, every kitchen is one job at a time. Owner Osama Al-Eisawy personally handles every spray pass — your kitchen does not get handed off to a subcontractor.

The 5-day Windsor cabinet refinishing process

Doors and drawers go to our Windsor shop for spray. The fixed cabinet boxes stay in your kitchen and we mask, prime, and spray them on-site. You keep using the rest of your home the entire week.

Day 1

Protection & prep

Plastic spray barriers up. Floors, countertops, and adjacent rooms masked. Doors and drawers labelled, removed, and crated to the shop.

Day 2

Degrease & sand

Every surface is degreased (Windsor kitchens carry years of cooking oils). Dustless sanding to break the existing finish so primer can bite.

Day 3

Two coats of bonding primer

High-adhesion primer engineered for cabinetry. Two passes, sanded between, ensures the topcoat has a perfect substrate.

Day 4

Two coats of Italian Renner topcoat

Renner 2K water-based polyurethane sprayed in your colour. Cures hard, resists chemicals, scratches, and yellowing.

Day 5

Re-installation & cleanup

Doors and drawers come back from the shop. Hardware installed (or new hardware if requested). Final walkthrough, all plastic out, kitchen back to you.

Total disruption

5 working days

No contractor parade. No 6-week renovation. Back to cooking by the weekend.

Cabinet painting in Windsor — common questions

How much does cabinet painting cost in Windsor?+

Most Windsor kitchens fall between $3,500 and $5,500 depending on door count, layout, and finish complexity. A 25-door kitchen with standard styling lands near $3,800. We give a flat written quote on-site within an hour, no surprises after the work starts.

How long will my Windsor kitchen be out of commission?+

Five working days, start to finish. Doors and drawers leave on day one and return finished on day five. The boxes stay in your kitchen and we mask the work zone so you keep using the rest of your home.

Do you serve all of Windsor or just downtown?+

We cover the entire City of Windsor — downtown, Walkerville, Riverside, South Windsor, Forest Glade, Sandwich Town, the West End, and East Windsor — plus the wider Windsor-Essex region.

Will Windsor's humidity affect the finish?+

No. The Italian Renner 2K polyurethane we spray cures by chemical reaction (not evaporation), so summer humidity off Lake St. Clair doesn't soften, blush, or extend cure time the way standard latex paints do.

Do you handle older Windsor kitchens with oak grain?+

Yes. Many Windsor homes built in the 70s through early 2000s have golden oak with deep grain. We grain-fill before priming so the final finish reads as smooth, modern, and factory-painted instead of textured oak with paint on top.
